Red Sox release George Kottaras

According to a Red Sox spokesman, the team have released catcher George Kottaras, who has asked for his release recently. After consideration, the club agreed it on Monday. After the club announced the move on Wednesday, Kottaras was claimed by the Brewers.

Kottaras was out of Minor League options, and Boston Red Sox put him on unconditional release waivers, meaning that he could be a free agent and negotiate with other clubs too. He was acquired from the Padres in exchange for David Wells in 2006, serving primarily as a personal catcher in 2009. We look forward to seeing him putting on the red sox jersey.
